Bills WR David Nelson could end up being Ryan Fitzpatrick's No. 2 wideout. He has great size and hauled in four catches for 66 yards in the season opener. He shared the lead in targets with Stevie Johnson at six, so keep an Cincinnati Bengals Jersey eye on how he does in Week Two.Ravens WR Lee Evans didn't catch a pass in Week One (four targets) and was in a walking boot on Wednesday. Though the boot was reportedly gone Thursday, Evans can't be highly recommended after this challenging start. Let's see him do it on the field, as this harkens to his days with Buffalo, high hopes but minimal production.Bengals WR A.J. Green's lone catch in Week One went for a touchdown, but he was targeted just four times. Green is very talented but had a tough matchup in rising Browns star CB Joe Haden, and the Bengals looked elsewhere more frequently. Nevertheless, Green did flash the skill that made him such a well-regarded prospect, and not just on the TD catch.
However, he's merely a flex or injury fill-in, as his touchdown was a trick play with a quick count. Prior to that, Green had been shut down all day. Look for the Bengals to establish the run and lean on Cedric Benson.Bengals WR Jerome Simpson was targeted a team-high nine times in Week One, but he caught just 4-44-0, and his play was inconsistent. He's a bench player as rookie QB Andy Dalton (wrist) is not 100 percent and the team is still learning a new offense and developing chemistry with one another. Don't forget, No. 1 option A.J. Green was shut down, and the team wants to see chemistry built between Dalton and Green.Steelers WR Antonio Brown caught just two passes in Week One, but he was targeted nine times. Only Mike Wallace (11 targets) had more passes thrown his way, and Brown had as many targets as Hines Ward. Brown will eventually be a bye-week and injury fill-in, but let's see how the Steelers use their wideouts this week before inserting him into the lineup. Risky, yes, but Brown's not a starter, rotating in and out, and still needs to develop chemistry with QB Ben Roethlisberger.
Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi was targeted seven times in Week One, and he caught a 56-yard pass on a blown coverage by Cincinnati. He was limited with a hamstring injury Wednesday, but he's likely to play Sunday, it appears. Until the wideouts figure their roles out, look for QB Colt McCoy to focus on the TE position. Massaquoi has upside, thus making him a waiver pick, but don't start him until we see consistency.Although the Colts' offense sputtered in Houston in Week One, WR Reggie Wayne was still productive, posting the 36th regular-season 100-yard receiving output of his career (Wayne piled up 106 yards on seven catches with one score). Wayne will be blanketed by promising, young CB Joe Haden on Sunday, but Haden did allow Bengals WR A.J. Green to break free for his first career TD reception in Week One. Colts QB Kerry Collins did not look good in his Colts debut, but he did target Wayne 11 times and figures to lean on his All-Pro WR as he gets acclimated in a new system. The fact RB Joseph Addai and TE Dallas Clark have to stay in and block more often now bodes well for Wayne's prospects to continue seeing most of the targets.
Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe has a history of disappearing in key spots, and he did it again in Week One, hauling in just two passes when his team was in need of a big play. QB Matt Cassel did not ignore Bowe as he did see eight targets, leading all receivers. Facing the Lions secondary in Week Two, Bowe is looking at now-or-never time, as the Chiefs will be desperate for a win and fantasy owners are desperate for the production that many predicted would come from the No. 1 wideout this season. The Patriots' secondary had trouble defending the Dolphins' below-average passing game in Week One. Now it must face the high-octane Chargers, which is good news NFL New England Patriots Jerseys for owners of Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd. Neither Bolt receiver did much in the season opener, as the Vikings made it a priority to slow down San Diego's vertical passing game. Even if Authentic Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys the Patriots do the same, look for the receivers to still make some plays down the field. The last time the Cheap Ravens Jersey duo faced the Patriots, 2008, Jackson (5-94-1) and Floyd (3-75-1) combined for eight receptions, 169 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson is a No. 1 fantasy wideout, and Floyd a flex play.
Tough call on Hakeem Nicks (bone bruise), who gets an extra day of rest because of the Monday-night game, but you are probably going to have to start someone else Sunday if you don't feel comfortable waiting until game time. If you have a Rams receiver or Mario Manningham, Jets Jerseys Shop you can afford to wait, but there also will be a drop-off in potential production. Nicks is their one bona fide game breaker and he can play hurt, too. However, you may want to pick up Domenik Hixon if Nicks can't go, as the NFL Reebok Football Bears Jerseys Rams allowed the Eagles' receivers 10 receptions for 162 yards and one touchdown. You'll have to keep an eye on Dez Cheap Vikings Jerseys Bryant (thigh), but the feeling is that he will play, despite his missing practice on Wednesday. Good matchup because, despite the 49ers allowing only 137 yards to Seahawks' receivers, Seattle did score two touchdowns, and last season the 49ers allowed opposing wideouts 13 receptions, 168 yards and 1.25 touchdowns per game. It's still not the time to break out Eagles WR Steve Smith (knee), who is working his way back into form.
He's practicing this week but will have the training wheels kept on, so to speak. Last week he was not targeted and has no real role in the offense. He belongs on your bench.Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but has reportedly said he plans to play in Week Two vs. Kansas City. If he goes, he's very obviously a must-start. You never bench him, barring a serious injury, but do monitor the ankle as two straight missed practices isn't a great sign.Marques Colston (broken collarbone) will not play Sunday vs. the Bears, and the Saints' other injured receiver, Lance Moore (groin), returned to practice, but was limited, on Wednesday. Moore is getting closer to returning after missing Week One, but monitor his status over the weekend. Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson are likely to start for New Orleans Sunday.
Meachem is the more appealing fantasy option, but the Saints' passing game could be kept quiet if the Bears' cover-2 Official San Francisco 49ers Jersey defense is well-executed and cuts off the deep ball. Last week the Bears held the Falcons' wideouts to 142 yards and no touchdowns, but regardless, you start Meachem and Henderson because QB Drew Brees can throw on anyone. With Danny Amendola expected to be out for a month, at the very least, after suffering a dislocated elbow in Week One, who will become Rams QB Sam Bradford's new favorite target? Early indications are that the nod goes to Brandon Gibson over newcomer Mike Sims-Walker, who some team insiders tell us might be having a hard time grasping offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels' playbook (only one catch for five yards in Week One). Word is Amendola is expected to be replaced in the slot primarily by rookie Greg Salas, who is very sure-handed and a bigger target than the poor man's version of Wes Welker.
Gibson's worth the pickup, but monitor Salas to see how his role develops, if it does. The outlook in San Francisco is not real optimistic on Michael Crabtree, who had to pull out of the season opener when his twice-broken left foot became too much of a burden. Does Crabtree have a chronic foot problem destined to make him a fantasy liability this season? It's starting to look that way. Crabtree has no value at the moment, but don't waive him, just bench him for now and hope he can heal. If any Niners wide receiver is going to make his fantasy presence felt this season which could be a real stretch if San Francisco's vanilla offense in Week One is any indication it will probably be Braylon Edwards, who was thrown to a couple of times in the red zone against Seattle in Week One.
